Translation: “Happy Birthday my two sons!” or… Feliz Cumpleanos Hijos (Happy Birthday sons!)

Wow, it feels surreal saying that. :-)

Today is July 15th, and Matthew’s 12th birthday!

We have a fun evening planned, and more fun coming up this weekend to celebrate before he and I head off together for our last summer camp in Leesburg, and then the big trip to El Salvador.

  • Today is also the birthday of our new son, who is waiting in El Salvador. I told you before, they BOTH have the same birthday! How cool is that?!

Did You Know?

Posted June 16th, 2009

6-16-2009-2-51-34-pm

Soon as I saw this video, I knew I had to share it.

It’s the second release of CatholicVote.org’s new national media campaign “Life: Imagine the Potential.”

It was rejected by NBC and CNN… which explains why you’ve probably never see it before.

Joy! We Have Received a Referral

Posted June 10th, 2009

el-salvador

We have received  a referral! I’m so excited, I can hardly write.

We have been referred to a young Salvadoran boy, 7 years old.

(Truth be told, we’ve known of this referral since January but only now are sharing it after official paperwork approval.)

Let me tell you more, beginning with a story.

Beautiful Children of El Salvador

Posted June 4th, 2009

6-4-2009-9-37-11-am

Found these wonderful photos of beautiful Salvadoran children (and other nationalities) which says they’re from the Orphanage of SOS Children’s Village in El Salvador.

I’m guessing the photos are from multiple SOS orphanages.

(Click photo to watch filmstrip).

Adoption and More El Salvador Photos

Posted April 10th, 2009

I ran across a cool bunch of photos over at Flikr.com on El Salvador that I thought you might enjoy.

They’ll give you some visual insight into this beautiful country, including the culture.

Having been there last August, it was really a site to experience.

Click below to watch… or if your computer freaks out, you can go here.

Meanwhile, we’re still passing time with our El Salvador adoption, sitting in waiting mode.

Today is Day 900 (but who’s counting).

P+A: Patience plus Action.

Happy Easter!

International Adoption = Faith In Action

Save the plane… or strap on a parachute: Which should I do first?”
– Anonymous

Every now and then, for no reason whatsoever… I strap on my boots, go outside, and kick a fire-ant hill or two. You know… to really stir stuff up.

This is one of those times.

Life on the Edge in El Salvador

Posted January 21st, 2009

Here’s a stunning photo gallery you will appreciate, Benediction of God: Life on the Edge in El Salvador.

“Benediction,” of course, means a short blessing.

Having experienced the countryside myself, some would argue how anyone could consider a culture like this to be any form of blessing.

The need is so great.

El Salvador Adoption: Parents Conference Call

Posted May 27th, 2008

I’m sure they’ll be a lot of parents listening to this call this week. So, I’m really not sure how many of our questions will get answered during the 1.5 hour call.
In any event, we’ve submitted our questions, and whatever doesn’t get answered, I’ll call and get answered personally. Read the rest of this entry »

Conference Call from Agency – El Salvador Update

Posted May 23rd, 2008

Today we received word (as did other families) that America World will hold a conference call for El Salvador families. Funny… I spoke to Katie Spencer about a week ago I suggested this very idea. Wink And frankly, it’s about time.

The “Brian” she mentions below is Brian Luwis, CEO of AWAA. Here’s what the email said…

Letter from U.S. Embassy

Posted August 27th, 2007

U.S. Embassy in D.C. sent a letter today. They acknowledged they have an official record on file that we are trying to adopt from El Salvador.

It came regular mail, and appeared to be a simple form letter.

Paperchase Done! – Final Apostilles

Posted July 6th, 2007

Eight long months, but it appears all our paperwork is now done. We are rejoicing that it only took 8 months!   We’ve heard from many people the paper chase process can take 12 months, even longer.

Never understood why. (Now we do.)

Want to see all the documents we had to gather, get notarized and mail to Tallahassee for apostilles…
