Running for Adoption Love

Whew… I did it!
Again!
Just back from the MC Marathon for my second full marathon.
Can you say COLD weather?
Here’s a few photos… I’ll post more later…
Heading to DC for the MCM
Posted October 23rd, 2008
Shoot… it’s been a quick year!
Hard to believe we’re heading back to DC for the Marine Corp Marathon today.
iPod is loaded down with 513 of the best CCM songs (Casting Crowns, Switchfoot, Chris Tomlin, Mercy Me, Third Day, etc.)… weather seems choice in Washington, plus… Matt gets to ride a jet… and today’s Daryl’s birthday (29th)
Plus, Mother and Daddy are on their way to join us again.
Now, why would either of us run 26.2 miles, again — willingly… you ask?
Approved Step 3 – El Salvador Adoption!
Posted October 19th, 2008
Hey y’all….
Well… we finally received more good news… last week, AWAA informed us our adoption dossier was approved by Reunion Cojunta! (joint meeting of ES orphan agencies).
That means we’re now thru step 3 in the diagram in the El Salvador Adoption Process.
So what happens next? (as my Mom always says.)
Adoption Process El Salvador – Diagram
Posted October 11th, 2008

Hey y’all…
It’s taken me a while, but I finally had a chart created that shows you the adoption process in El Salvador.
This is from my own research, and has been confirmed by several people I’ve spent a lot of time with in recent weeks, including folks from our agency, my in-country experience, and either conversations with ES contacts in-person, by email and over the telephone.
I had this created for one reason–
To answer the quesion I get asked the most: Why does it take so long?
Hopefully this diagram will explain it to you better than I can.
Keep in mind, this does not cover every single little step in great detail, but is a broad-brush look at the process. Read the rest of this entry »
Adoption Process: Meet My Friend ‘Mr. H.’
Posted October 6th, 2008

“You of little faith, why are you so afraid…?”
Howdy again!
This is gonna be one long post.
But if you stick with it, I promise it’ll be one of the most important you’ll read all year.
Speaking of ‘all year’…. how you been doin’ this month?
Oh yeah?? (Now…. how you really been doing?)
Before you answer, ever heard of a dude named Habakkuk? Me either. Not at least until a few years ago.
Recently he paid me a visit again (figuratively). Turns out he’s an Old Testament “Minor Prophet,” with a book named after him.
In all honestly I don’t spend a lot of time in the OT because it’s always been a yawn. But since the book named after him sits about-face to the New Testament, I figured I oughta pay attention.
This time my eyes got peeled.
